First Baptist Church, New Bern, NC

A Sweet Place to meet God and neighbor!
We invite you to visit our church to experience the presence of God, where faith, hope and love abide, and the greatest of these is love (agape love). The slide show to the right shows you some pictures of our '08 Fall Festival. We are really growing in numbers and in depth of relationship with God and neighbor. Visit us or give any of our four full-time ministers a call to ask questions about God's vision and mission for First Baptist Church, New Bern! -- Dr. Fitzgerald

Welcome

We are excited about the events leading up to our Bicentennial Worship Celebration, which will be on May 17, 2009. We have a great heritage, but an even greater hope, in Jesus Christ. We hope that you will be inspired by the way that Christ has moved in and through this congregation and the way that we are currently responding to God's love with our own love. That reciprocal love translates into the love of neighbor in a multitude of ways here at First Baptist New Bern, and calls us to have a healthy Christlike love of self.
Visit us for worship and Sunday School, as well as any of our regular or special events. Please know that you are welcome here and we consider you called by God to be here when you arrive. It is our hope and prayer that you will encounter the goodness and love of God in a life transforming way through this faithful community of faith in Jesus Christ!

A New Vision and Mission Statement

Our ministerial staff and deacons have been discussing a new Vision and Mission Statement. Here they are:
Vision Statement: First We Love
Mission Statement: First, before anything else, we, the congregation of First Baptist Church New Bern, from youngest to oldest, love God, others and self (as modeled by Jesus).
It is our express goal to be a congregation of those who are changed the the grace of God's love poured out for us in His gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ. Once we accept this love and forgiveness of our sins, then we should be changed and blessed to be a blessing of love and grace to others. This also changes the way that we treat our own bodies, minds and souls -- with holiness and honor as temples of God's Holy Spirit.

It is a great blessing to be a part of a congregation that first looks outward to God and others prior to looking to fulfill our own needs. We seek to develop relationships with God and neighbor by listening and learning, so that we can link the love and grace of God appropriately, and relationally. That works in our relationships outside the church as well as our relationships with each other inside the church.

Visit our church and witness love in action during this season of Lent, ascending the hill to Jerusalem, where the cross waits, and where eternal life meets us in the person of Jesus.
